Over the years, MTE has built a solid reputation for itself as a quality exhibition organiser in South Africa’s neighbouring countries. This year, the travelling exhibition returned to Mozambique following a short break.

MTE operations manager Andrew Macnamara travelled to Vale’s offices in Mozambique to discuss the possibility of hosting a show in the country. “I flew to Tete and engaged with procurement, engineering and mining. They are very happy to support the exhibition again; they say its time.” He adds that some of the areas of interest from Vale include efficiency, materials handling, drones and other new technology. From that meeting, MTE managed to get a support letter from Vale’s head of procurement in Maputo, which supported the expo. “This is basically saying and confirming that we have engaged with Vale and that they are happy to support the exhibition,” Macnamara says.

The Mozambique expo brings the number of cross border expos to three in 2019. The first cross border show took place in April when MTE was in Botswana for a week-long tour. During this tour, MTE visited Letlhakane, Jwaneng and Palapye. MTE moved on to Mozambique for the Tete expo which was held over two days on 31 July and 01 August 2019. The last cross border expo is going to take place in September, which will visit Kalumbila, Solwezi and Kitwe in Zambia.

MTE prioritises travelling to SADC countries after realising that there was a need for solution-driven exhibitions in areas where there is a lot of mining activity. Mines in the region are often looking for information pertaining to technological innovations that can assist mines with safety, efficiency and productivity. Most of the exhibitions are hosted on mine property or near mining operations. This makes it convenient for visitors to attend the show because some of the mines are in very remote areas. MTE brings the show to the mines and customises the show to the mine’s needs based on the mineral reserves in the area.

By hosting exhibitions across the border, MTE not only brings buyers and suppliers together beyond the borders, but they also reaffirm their footprint in southern Africa as travelling exhibition specialists. www.MTEexpos.co.za
